Bài Jingle bell do nhạc sĩ J.Pierpont sáng tác nhưng lại đặt vào chùm bài hát trong danh sách những bản nhạc nổi tiếng của Mỹ với tên gọi American Song Bag của nhà thơ Carl Sandburg. Bài này không phải sáng tác cho đêm Noel như người ta vẫn tưởng.
Lời bài hát đậm tính dân dã mộc mạc, diễn tả tâm hồn của người dân Mỹ hướng đến một mùa tuyết rơi thật tốt lành. Hình ảnh ông Noel với túi quà đồ chơi, ngồi trên xe tuần lộc với tiếng chuông leng keng diễn tả sinh động, quyến rủ làm cho người ta thích nghêu ngao và nó vô tình trở thành bài hát Giáng sinh.
Ngày nay bài Jingle bell được dịch sang rất nhiều thứ tiếng, và cũng như Silent Night, O Holy Night... Jingle Bell là bài hát không thể thiếu mỗi dịp Giáng Sinh, Năm Mới về.
